Moodboards FP

INSPIRATION:
Our inspiration for this film is from a couple of AS media students when they did a hostage/kidnapping.

The sub-genre for our thriller is an action thriller which we have Inspiration from some movies in the mood-board below. Since it is an action thriller we will be incorporating scenes of the hostage trying to get free and and screaming making the thriller more engages for the audience and keep them on their toes. Our thriller will help allow the audience to understand that the bad guy has some problems to do with his mind and psychological issues.
  • Quick cuts
  • Low key lighting
  • Shadows
  • Tension music
  • Montage almost like the hallucinations
  • Camera movements and angles

Cinematography:

Cinematography is the art of motion picture photography.  In a thriller film there will be a lot of  close ups and extreme close ups of the protagonist character, this is often to show their emotions, also it can e used to focus on props to aid the narrative. The shots of the antagonistic character will be cut quickly and will aim to hide their identity.

  • This is something I want to incorporate in my film which adds to the bad guy not showing much of himself.

We have a lot of films we used for inspiration where they use a lot of the opening scenes as establishing shots which sets the scene. During these shots the audience will have a feel for how creepy the location is and as being night time will be even more freaky.

The lighting will be dark and our talent (bad guy) will be wearing dark clothes connoting to the time of day.

Our hostage will be captured/ staying still due to duct tape to keep the hostage quiet and in place and an isolated area where no one can find the hostage and no one can hear her.

These movies shown here are all hostage movies where some involve duct tape over the hostages mouth and show the bad guys in dark clothes. I have been inspired by these movies as the audience don't have a connection with the bad guy as we don't see too much in depth things about him. Here, many close ups and different shots are used on the protagonist or the innocent little girl which helps the audience relate to her and feel emotion for her.
On the other hand, we see many quick cuts of the antagonist (bad guy) which makes us not feel for him as we only see quick cuts of him being strange and taking a little girl hostage.

LOCATION AND SETTING:
We will be filming our Foundation portfolio at church as it is easier and more efficient for KPM productions to get all filming done with our talent. At church there is a place where there is a lot of sheds where machinery and other things that need to be stored are in. Here it is very rugged and isolated and has a very creepy feel that will keep the audience on their toes especially when we get a lot of shots of the sheds and outside of sheds to make the audience feel uncomfortable.
  • This place is very isolated and rugged
  • No one is around

CHARACTERS/PROPS/COSTUMES:
For characters we have one hostage and one bad guy who knocks out the hostage. For props we will use duct tape to cover the hostages mouth and tape their arms together. A brick or something heavy will be used to knock out the hostage. Blood will be on the hostages face when she wakes up from her being knocked out and will symbolise danger she is in and make the audience feel unsure to her where about like herself. The bad guy will be wearing all black and and a mask to cover his identity which adds to the suspense.
The girl hostage will be wearing normal clothing like jeans and a tee which will soon be dirty once we see her with duct tape over her face.

COLOURS/SOUND/LIGHTING/TITLE:
We will be filming during the afternoon/night time so its more scary/ suspenseful and the hallucination scenes will be filmed during the day to show time. The girl who is being held hostage gets taken during the day and is seen in the shed during the night time which shows the passing of time the innocent girl has been taken or held hostage. The title is G O N E which is cool as its spread out which shows the passing of time and also represents that the girl is gone. Behind the shots we will have eerie suspenseful sound along with the suspense of the thriller.

Your planning obviously reflects research and intentional use of codes and conventions of your chosen genre. Well done! The continued depth of description and examples to showcase your planning and providing rationale for your choices increases your results. It was also necessary to have your team's initial brainstorm for planning purposes on your personal blog.
