Preliminary task 1 rough edit

ROUGH EDIT AND RESPONSE:

PEER RESPONSE:

GOOD:
  • Good and nice title and opening
  • Good correlation between sound and visuals
  • Music lines with the visuals
  • Good build up to suspense
  • Music fits well with the editing
  • Good that the credits for names come up when they come up on film
  • Opening title is good
  • Nice how music starts in beginning with black then title
  • Good transitions
WORK ON:
  • Keep credits on for longer for the names of the actors
  • Add an after effect
  • Need to add the sound of the door when it shuts
  • Change credits at the end to proper credits- like when it scrolls down
  • Define the suspense moment with the gun and the music correlating with it.

MY RESPONSE:

  • I will change my name credits for the actors during the film to be longer. This is so people can read their full name and then the name disappears to add to the suspense. I like this idea!
  • The after effect i will add is still to be decided>> i will choose from a white flash after the gun shot, or blood dripping from my title to foreshadow the blood and death of the coder, or i will add flickers in between my film during suspenseful shots.
  • I don't think i will add sound of a door for when the door shuts after the match on action because it wouldn't be able to be heard as there is an upbeat sound of a drum covering it.
  • I have changed my credits at the end to look like the credits in other films, ones that scroll with gaps in between.
  • I have also edited the sound around the gun shot so its very intense and suspenseful before then the gun shot will take place then it will go back to more eerie suspenseful music.

  1. Hi Porcia

Looking so good for a rough edit!

As you already know my feedback, I'll just add in that the 180' Rule was broken in that 'encounter' scene that leads to chase scene. You swapped camera from left to right side of that hallway. Do you have any other footage you can use there?

Other than that, I think you've nailed the things you need to add in there.

Possibly also more suspense around that chase scene? It's really quick before you reach the climax of the shoot scene...

Well done though on your first edit attempt!
